Batalla de Calama (The Battle of Calama) reenacts the first battle in the War of the Pacific. A larger force of Chilean troops defeated a group of Bolivian soldiers and civilians near the town of Calama on March 23, 1879.
The game is a wargame for two players, one in control of the Chilean troops and one commanding the Bolivian forces. Depending on the difficulty level, the Chilean side can outnumber the Bolivian side by nearly two to one.
Battle of Calama is a simple dice game. There are dice in various colors which determine the amount of troops that can be moved, whether a change of direction is possible, and the outcome of the battles. The troop strength serves as a modifier in battle. The goal is to occupy the entire town.
