What Are the Explorers Keeping from Each Other?
In Corps of Discovery: Duo, two explorers set out on a dangerous expedition across uncharted territory. Their goal is to map the wilderness and find a place to build a fort. Corps of Discovery: Duo was created by Jay Cormier and Sen-Fun Lim, the designers of MIND MGMT. The new game is one of the projects from Off the Page Games. Here, the designers bring their interest in hidden information and deduction into a story about traveling through unknown lands.
Players take the roles of Lewis, Clark, York, or Sacagawea. Each character has their own secret rules tied to the surrounding landscape, but they cannot directly explain those rules to their partner. The explorers must therefore work together by watching each other's actions and trying to understand what features of the map their partner is trying to follow.
The goal remains shared - cross the wilderness, gradually explore the territory, and prepare a site for the fort before the dangers of the expedition force the team to stop.

How Do the Explorers Find Their Way Through Unknown Lands?
In Corps of Discovery: Duo, the expedition starts with a small map and gradually expands into new territory. Players take turns adding terrain cards and revealing more of the landscape. Forests, water, cliffs, plants, food, and other elements of the environment must come together into a single map that follows the explorers' rules.
Some of these rules are visible to both players, while others remain secret. For example, certain types of terrain may need to be adjacent to each other, appear in a specific part of the map, or avoid certain areas altogether. A partner cannot simply explain their reasoning, so every new section becomes not only part of the route, but also a clue to their hidden rules.
Little by little, the explorers learn to read each other's decisions and build a territory that satisfies the requirements of the entire expedition.

What Awaits the Expedition Deep in the Wilderness?
As Corps of Discovery: Duo moves forward, the explorers face new dangers. Monsters appear on the map, while expanding the territory can force players to spend additional cards. Resources are limited, so moving too slowly or making careless decisions can bring the expedition to an early end.
Once the explorers reach the required map size and meet the necessary conditions, they can establish the fort. But the journey is not over yet. The team must make sure that the entire explored territory follows both the shared requirements and the secret rules of both characters.
If the map meets all the conditions, the expedition is successfully completed. Breaking even one of the rules means the route was built incorrectly and the explorers fail.

Who Is Corps of Discovery: Duo For?
Corps of Discovery: Duo is designed for two players who enjoy cooperative puzzles, exploration, and deduction. Paying attention to small details in your partner's actions is especially important, as you gradually try to understand their intentions without breaking the mystery through direct hints.
At the same time, the game preserves the feeling of a real expedition. You explore an unknown territory with your partner, face dangers along the way, and try to reach a place where the fort can be established.
After successful expeditions, new character upgrades become available, while additional danger cards can make future journeys more challenging. The familiar wilderness gradually reveals new trials for the team.

If you want to set out on the expedition yourself and see whether you can understand your partner without direct hints, Corps of Discovery: Duo is already available in an online version on Tabletopia. Build a map of uncharted lands, find a place for the fort, and try to bring the expedition to a successful end before the wilderness forces you to turn back.
