From these myths arose Legends of ShenZhou, a board game for 2 to 6 players where legends come alive and epic battles unfold. The Heroes’ Journey
Players take on the roles of legendary adventurers, each defined by a Hero Card and endowed with unique abilities. The path leads across treacherous mountains, hidden valleys, and uncharted seas. Three legendary bosses dominate these lands: Peng, the titanic bird of storms whose wings churn the heavens; Kun, the shapeshifting whale whose tidal power can engulf entire fleets; and Hun Dun, the chaotic entity whose presence distorts reality itself.
Movement is resolved by a combination of rolling a 12-sided die and adding the hero’s movement ability, sourced from their Hero or Mount Card. This balance of chance and strategy ensures that every step is both unpredictable and tactical. Combat is not a roll of the dice but a deliberate, tactical system built on Discard, Draw, and Play mechanics using Action Cards and Skill Cubes. Timing, card management, and resource use are pivotal — a single misstep can shift the balance between triumph and catastrophe.
Epic Trials and Victory Conditions
Legends of ShenZhou features three distinct game modes, each centered on a legendary boss. Players may aim to defeat Peng, Kun, or Hun Dun, with victory achieved only through the fall of the chosen boss. Each mode brings unique map layouts, boss abilities, and strategic demands. Exploring modular maps, heroes encounter named locations hiding challenges and rewards. Creature Cards bring spirits and monsters to life, each requiring tactical deployment of skills, weapons, and artifacts.
