Oakspire - Build a Thriving City Among the Forest Canopies

A cozy strategy game about woodland builders, grand ambitions, and teamwork

On the Threshold of a New Metropolis

The sound of axes striking wood and river currents carrying timber - that's how a new metropolis is born! Publisher Lucky Duck Games is preparing to release Oakspire: The Builders of the Sunleaf Grove, designed by James Newman. The game supports 1-5 players and plays in approximately 20-100 minutes.

In this city-building strategy game, you'll take charge of construction companies run by a variety of woodland animals. Your goal is to transform the newly founded settlement of Sunleaf Grove into a thriving city filled with magnificent buildings.

However, architectural ambitions require a reliable supply of resources. To complete large-scale projects, you'll need to establish a full logistics network, from gathering timber and floating it down the river to processing it through a series of workshops. Turn recovered wood into logs, planks, and finished panels to meet the requirements of your blueprints. The player who builds the most efficient production chain and earns the highest number of Victory Points will be recognized as the city's master architect.

The Rules of the Building Trade

To manage this bustling operation in Oakspire, each player uses a personal board divided into several work areas. Every working day is carefully structured: on your turn, you issue exactly three orders, tracked with your Architect Token.

Project Cards serve as your primary tool. By playing them, you instruct your animal-run companies to collect timber, float it downriver to the Workshop, and begin the processing operation.

Raw reclaimed wood is unsuitable for construction, so the sound of hammers never stops inside the Workshop. Materials are gradually transformed into logs, planks, and sturdy panels. Only after being transported to the Construction Site are these resources ready to fulfill a blueprint and bring a project to life. Completed buildings not only beautify the city but also grant useful abilities to your company.

Sunleaf Grove moves to a shared rhythm. Thanks to the Community Action Phase, activity continues even during other players' turns. The rightmost card in the Market allows competitors to perform bonus actions alongside the active player, ensuring that the city never stops growing.

The Secrets of Efficient Management

Oakspire's strategic depth comes not only from its busy production system but also from the unique identity of each company. Before the game begins, every architect selects a Specialty Card that provides a permanent starting ability. Completing the card's specific objective rewards you with 3 coins and unlocks a powerful advanced skill.

Planning remains flexible thanks to the invaluable Wild Action. By discarding any two cards from your hand, you may perform the company action you need, even if you don't have the required icon available. There is also no hand limit, giving players additional freedom when preparing long-term strategies.

The race to become the city's greatest builder ends when a player completes between five and seven projects, depending on the player count. That player receives a bonus of 3 coins, while everyone else takes one final turn. The winner is determined by the total score earned from buildings, remaining coins, and Endgame card effects.

For those who prefer to work alone, Oakspire includes a dedicated solo mode lasting 15 rounds. A special deck simulates market competition, while five unique Challenges put your planning skills to the test under demanding restrictions.

Time to Lay the First Stone

In the end, Oakspire: The Builders of the Sunleaf Grove is a carefully crafted economic strategy game where the architectural identity of a growing city is shaped by the paws and hooves of skilled woodland specialists. Using the services of five different animal companies, you'll recover timber from the river and carefully process it into construction materials to create impressive landmarks such as the Fur-Ris Wheel and the Stadium Wild Sports Field.

The game strikes an appealing balance between cozy woodland charm and the calculated efficiency of a complex production network.
