Dodoresque is a small, quick and colourful cardgame which can be played with up to 8 Players ages 8 and up by combining both versions of the game.
By combining some more mechanical parts with a high amount of luck Dodoresque creates a bridge between simple (Uno&Co) and a little more complex cardgames, which does not overburden casual Players or beginners, but also entertains avid Players and experts with humour and hidden tactics, rewarding game-knowledge and observation.
In Dodoresque each Player takes the role of a Dodo-Character, whose goal of the game is building the prettiest nest of them all. To reach this goal, all Dodos have to go on various adventures, looking for the best materials to build their nest from.
This means drawing cards from one of the three card decks, which differ in potential danger but also in material value. To counter luring dangers in the adventure decks, there's four different action cards for each of the possible dangers. By collecting those action cards, Players are able to assess the risk they are taking by going on an adventure – taking risks may be rewarded or punished.
In the exchange deck, Players have the option to trade unwanted materials or action cards for more interesting cards.
When building the nest it's all about collecting cards with the same landscape-background, having 3 different material types in a row and also having the most value on those collected cards. Special combinations offer additional bonuses on the total score. The game ends when one Dodo has lost all of it's hit-points (this can happen when a Dodo can't provide the right action to counter an adventure) or when one of the three adventure decks is completely used up.
